Taite Music Prize: The Bats

The seven finalists for the Taite Music Prize have been announced earlier this month, now it's time to get to know them better.

In today's video Paul Kean of The Bats talks about the Free All The Monsters album. The Christchurch band, signed to legendary label Flying Nun, is around since 1982 and Free Alll The Monsters is their eigth album.

In the award's third year, named after music journalist Dylan Taite, the finalists are again in the running to win a cash prize of $10,000.

The prize is recognising the merit of an entire album released in the previous calendar year.

In its inaugural year the Taite Music Prize was won by Lawrence Arabia for his album Chant Darling and Ladi 6 was awarded the prize for The Liberation Of... last year.
