A short post today - because, well, I'm looking forward to tomorrow's holiday. I don't get much of a holiday here at Blog on the Tracks, that's my own choice of course. But this week I am excited about a day off - and a day of reflection. Anzac Day being what it is.
But on the night of Anzac Day I'll be at the best gig of the week. I missed them last time they performed in my town.
I am talking about Fabulous/Arabia - the duo of Mike Fabulous and Lawrence Arabia.
Last year the duo collaborated to make the album, Unlimited Buffet. It was one of the best local releases of last year I reckon. In fact I pretty much said that here.
I also said that the album took me to a place somewhere between Ween and Steely Dan - but that might be a really horrible recommendation. It works for me. Might not work for you though. So check out this clip here. And have a hoon on a free track from the album here.
The live band features Toby Laing, Riki Gooch, Tom Watson and Hayden East and for this gig there's support from Craig Terris with his new band.
Bargain price too - $10 or if you show student ID/community services card you can get in for a fiver.
Wellington hosts Fabulous/Arabia this Wednesday, April 25 at San Francisco Bath House.
And because I believe that this gig will be a ripper I wanted to offer some tickets to the show.
So I have two double-passes to the Wellington gig. If you want to be in to win a double-pass just state below why you think you should win. I'll pick the best two answers as I see fit and award them each a double-pass to this gig. The best gig this week.
