New Zealand wrestling fans took to Twitter and Facebook to vent their anger at Sky Television after their Wrestlemania experiences were cut short by an "EPG problem" yesterday.
Viewers recording the WWE pay-per-view Wrestlemania 28 on MySky missed out on the final half of the main event bout, John Cena vs. The Rock.
Sky Television blamed an "EPG (electronic program guide) problem" for the glitch and apologised for the inconvenience.
In response to complaints on their Facebook page Sky Television said "We sincerely apologise for any disruption to those subscribers who were recording Wrestlemania today, and we will take steps to ensure this doesn't happen again".
Subscribers who called Sky Television last night were greeted by a message that apologised for the disruption. According to fans who contacted the call centre, refunds have not been offered by Sky Television.
This has done little to calm angry Wrestlemania fans who paid $24.95 to watch the event which was played live yesterday at 11am.
A Sky TV subscriber commented on Sky TV's Facebook page last night, "I have just spent $25 on WMVIII and went to watch it after work..something I've been waiting for since last year and what happens mysky cuts out just before it ends! I Missed out on the end of Rock VS Cena so what's guna happen are you going to give me my money back or what".
Another commented "It really shows how much contempt you have for your customers that you would cut off the main event of the biggest pay per view of the year and just expect your customers to cop it. I didn't pay for Wrestlemania to watch it a day after airs. I now realize the Sky attitude is "we've got your money now and that's all that matters".
